Amsterdam
Amsterdam 2022
My cousin and I traveled to Amsterdam in the Spring to catch the tulip blooms at Keukenhof Gardens.
We stayed at Hotel Die Port van Cleve which is on the main street downtown across from the Royal Palace. Not where you want to be if you are a light sleeper. The street is busy with traffic, trains, and people. The room was comfortable and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The talking pictures in the lobby caught many guests off guard.
The best meal we had was at Indrapura in Rembrandt Square. I never had Indonesian fare and was so impressed we returned for a second meal.
Not to miss...Keukenhof Gardens, a canal tour, the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, Red Light District--Church in the Attic
Be warned: The Red Light District has urinals along the canal. The area has a heavy odor. The Tropenmuseum was under construction - but charged full price.
Biggest surprise: The Nightwatch at the Rijksmuseum is huge and most characters paid to be part of the painting.
